History

Renton WA was first incorporated as a city in 1901. During the early years, coal mining and logging where the main industries that laid the foundation for the new city. As the coal and logging industries flowed and industry in Seattle was booming, some Seattle companies expanded to the nearby town. Being centrally located and on the banks of Lake Washington helped the expansion of the town. Starting out with the Seattle Car Company who was the only train car manufacturer on the west coast.
